Stone and Pine Inc. was established in 2001; an award winning architectural design studio specializing in renovations, restorations and custom home design, interior design in the Northumberland County and across central Ontario.
We design for your site’s specific characteristics, including light, orientation, views and terrain to develop the best possible union. Our design direction integrates every detail on your list – from temperature controlled wine cellars and 35’ vaulted timber frame ceilings with a tumbled stone fireplace to integrating the latest green technologies and efficiencies. This isn’t our design, it is your design.
We have extensive experience to prepare and manage all permitting, setbacks and zoning challenges that may present with your property and work with municipalities and committees on your behalf to achieve the approvals required to obtain a building permit and build.

Meet Kate Miller
Kate is the Creative Director at Stone and Pine and is no stranger to great design and can interpret what you are looking for from her happy place in modern design, with family roots in more traditional styles. From her conceptual design to finish selections to staging your new abode, she is already envisioning your finished space. Plucked from the hustle of Toronto where she earned over 15 years in the design industry; Kate will help you sprout your ideas into reality and add up all the “I wants” and integrate them into the home you have always dreamed of in the style you feel comfortable in.
Meet Brian Miller
Brian had been involved in building from his early days at Ryerson Polytechnique for Architecture, and since then nothing has changed. With over 50 years in the industry he is an expert on everything from the latest structural building practices to the correct humidity levels of your climate controlled horse palace. From the man who will never retire, he is an asset on every project and site offering insight and innovative ways to problem solve any challenge that may arise.
Meet Andrew Wilcox. P.Eng.
Andrew is Kate’s partner in life, sounding board and Professional Engineer. Andrew is our in-house expert on optimizing energy efficiencies and reducing the overall energy consumption in new builds and renovated structures. His heat loss calculations, HVAC design and digital models determines how much heat is lost from a building and calculates; and how much to replace by tapping into more cost effective renewable and high-efficiency energy sources. He designs energy systems using a variety of sources including geothermal, solar, wastewater energy recovery and heat pumps.
